➤ Allen’s test is a medical sign and it’s use in physical examination of arterial blood circulation in hands.and it’s founder’s name is Edgar Van Nuys Allen he is discribe the test in 1929. with it’s original version.

➤ The Allen’s test doing to check the patency of blood circulation in hand and fingers by radial and ulnar artery.

➤ Before doing the procedure prepare the patient’s hand clean And dry the palm to saw the colour,

➤ Then mark the radial & ulnar artery by the marker.

➤ After the marking of both arteries the patient should be sit in sitting position and his elbow twist in 90 degree angle.

➤ Then the patient hand is elevated and the patient is asked to clench their fist for about 30 second to 1 minute.

➤ After the clenching fist, pressure is applied by our thumb over the both arteries to occlude the circulation.

➤ Say to patient to open his fist and saw the palm and nails colour is pale.Then release ulnar artery pressure, and radial artery pressure is applied continue as before. then  assess the colour if palm is become rad within 5 to 10 second the indigetion is allen test normal.if colour is fail in return then the abnormal indigetion as suspect the ulnar artery is not supply sufficient amount of blood in hand.

➤ Allen test is doing befor ABG sampling, Heart bypass surgery for radial artery graft testing ( Comparison of the saphenous vein  prior the Heart bypass surgery).
